Early morning fire damages Chatham home

Fire crews responded to a structure fire early Tuesday morning at a residence on Colborne Street in Chatham.

The call came in at approximately 5 a.m. on June 3.

Firefighters from Station #1 and Station #2 – Chatham arrived to find flames coming from a two-storey home at 241 Colborne Street.

Crews quickly brought the fire under control and searched the residence, which was confirmed to be unoccupied at the time.

Overhaul operations were completed, and the scene was turned over to Chatham-Kent Police.

Fire investigators from Chatham-Kent Fire Services attended the scene, and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office was notified.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined.

Damage is estimated at $50,000. No injuries were reported.
