Arrest made in string of indecent acts on Sarnia trailways

Sarnia Police Service officials allege: Since August of 2024, the Sarnia Police Criminal Investigations Division has been investigating a string of indecent acts complaints that occurred on various areas of the Howard Watson Trail and Wawanosh Wetlands within Sarnia.

In all reported occurrences, the suspect was described as an elderly male with a slim build, riding a bicycle.

The suspect would engage unsuspecting females in brief conversation before exposing his genitals to them and riding away on his bicycle.

In all instances where police were called to the scene, the suspect was not located and there were no photos available of the suspect.

On June 2, 2025, on the Howard Watson Trail in the area of Retford Avenue, a female was pushing her child in a stroller when she was approached by an elderly male riding a bicycle.

The suspect exposed his genitals to the female before fleeing northbound on the Howard Watson Trail. Prior to leaving the area, a photo was taken of the suspect. T

he photo distributed internally within the Sarnia Police Service in an attempt to identify the suspect.

As a result of the investigation, a 74-year-old Sarnia man, was arrested and held for bail charged with the following:

– Committing an Indecent Act (6 counts)

– Exposure to a Minor (2 counts)

These charges stem from incidents that occurred in 2024 and 2025.
