Chatham-Kent adopts updated Community Safety and Well-Being Plan

Chatham-Kent Council has officially adopted the 2025–2029 Community Safety and Well-Being Plan (CSWB), a provincially mandated strategy aimed at addressing key social challenges through collaboration across sectors.

The updated plan was developed with input from 350 residents and local leaders in healthcare, education, emergency services, and social services. It outlines a framework to enhance ongoing efforts by encouraging coordinated action among community organizations.

The plan focuses on several priority areas, including reducing harm and stigma related to substance use, improving access to mental health supports, increasing housing affordability and income stability, enhancing public safety, strengthening community belonging, and supporting the wellness of children, youth, and families.

To bring the plan to life, local teams representing each focus area will work together to implement action plans, monitor progress, and adapt based on community feedback. Officials say the collaborative approach is intended to build a healthier, more inclusive community.

The CSWB Plan will be made available to the public both online and in print at local libraries. Community members are encouraged to remain involved in shaping its future direction by providing feedback and participating in upcoming initiatives.
