Disturbance in Chatham leads to assault charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On July 14, 2025, at approximately 7:32 a.m. the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a disturbance involving a 50-year-old male from Chatham, who was in violation of his court-imposed conditions.

The individual had previously been ordered not to attend a local medical facility unless for a medical emergency or schedule appointment.

During the incident, the accused became verbally aggressive toward a security officer after being asked to leave the premises. The altercation escalated when the accused made threatening gestures and shouted at the officer.

Officers located the accused, a short distance away from the incident. He was charged with the following:

– Fail to Comply Probation Order

– Assault

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and was released with a scheduled future court date of August 13, 2025.
