Chatham-Kent receives nearly $475K in first quarter gaming revenue from OLG

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has issued a first quarter payment of $474,992 to the Municipality of Chatham-Kent for hosting Cascades Casino Chatham.

The payment, covering the period from April 1 to June 30, brings the municipality’s total gaming revenue from the site to over $20 million since the casino opened in April 2001.

“OLG is a strong partner that provides substantial benefits to Chatham-Kent,” said Trevor Jones, Member of Provincial Parliament for Chatham-Kent–Leamington. “In addition to creating jobs at Cascades Casino Chatham, important investments in Chatham-Kent’s public services are made possible through OLG’s sharing of casino revenue.”

Payments are made under a formula outlined in the Municipality Contribution Agreement, which is applied consistently across all land-based casino sites in Ontario. The amount is calculated using a graduated scale based on gaming revenue at the hosted site.

Across Ontario, host communities have received nearly $2.3 billion in non-tax gaming revenue since 1994. Over the past nine years, service providers have invested more than $2.8 billion in private-sector capital across the province, resulting in new casino developments, resort expansions, and other facility improvements.

OLG says 100 per cent of its profits are reinvested into the province, supporting priorities such as health care, responsible gambling programs, and local economic development.
