New baseball scoreboard ‘up and operational’ in Wallaceburg

A brand new scoreboard at Andy Johnston Field in Kinsmen Park is up and operational.

“This project was redone in memory of Mike Childs who was a major supporter of minor baseball,” said Wallaceburg resident Kim Murray, who spearheaded a fundraising drive for the scoreboard, on social media.

“It has been a long process but with the help of mPower and Bartech, two great Wallaceburg companies, we got this project across the finish line. Structural requirements for the frame caused many delays but with the support of the community and hard work of WMBA President Doug Buchan the scoreboard is ready to go.”

Murray added: “I want to thank Aaron Hall a CK Councillor who helped with a large donation, as well as the Kinsmen Club and the Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame as our major financial support.

Murray said there were many families and individuals who contributed as well.

“We owe them a huge thank you,” Murray said.

“We did the project under budget and were able to restore the batting cage as well. Lastly, I want to thank the public for their patience.”
