Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 46-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested Wednesday afternoon in connection with a theft earlier this month.
On July 9, police responded to a report of a theft at a gas station in Wallaceburg. Surveillance footage showed two men tampering with an air pump around 3:30 a.m., with one acting as a lookout while the other removed the pump. Both were later seen placing the item into a red minivan before leaving the scene.
A warrant was issued for both suspects. During a person stop on Gillard Street around 3:25 p.m. on July 23, police arrested the 46-year-old Wallaceburg man on an outstanding endorsed warrant.
He is charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He was released with conditions and a court date set for Aug. 20.
An outstanding warrant remains active for the second suspect, a 45-year-old Walpole Island man.
