With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Rebecca Elizabeth ‘Becky’ DeBruyn, with her family by her side and wrapped in love at Sakura House hospice in Woodstock on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at the age of 78. Becky is the daughter of the late Howard & Helen Melinda (Dewar) Collop. Beloved wife of the late George Joseph DeBruyn (2004). Loving mother of Melanie Oepkes (John), Anne DeBruyn and the late David DeBruyn (2005). Dear grandmother of Moyra and Conor. Sister of Kathy Skinner (the Late Jim) and the late Robert Collop (Marion). We will carry forward her memory, her laughter, and her belief that there is always light ahead.
Becky previously served as the office manager at the Wallaceburg Eye Care Centre, located on Wellington Street in Wallaceburg. During her time there, she became a well-recognized figure in the community, known for her friendly demeanor and genuine care for both patients and staff.
Becky was more than a mother—she was a light, a source of strength, and the heart of our home. She lived with unwavering faith, endless kindness, and a sense of humor that could brighten any day. She believed in people, in second chances, and in holding on to hope, no matter the odds.
“Don’t Stop Believin”. She lived those words every day. Through life’s joys and challenges, she encouraged all of us to keep believing—believing in ourselves, in each other, and in the beauty of tomorrow. Her life was a testament to resilience and love, and that legacy lives on in all who knew her.
In honor of her spirit, we ask that you hold your loved ones a little closer today, and—just like she did—don’t stop believin’.
