1941-2025

Surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at CKHA, Wallaceburg, Joanne was welcomed home by her Saviour at the age of 84.

Beloved wife of the late Harry Devries for 54 years.

Loving mother to Jim & Henrietta DeVries, Brian DeVries, Julie and Albert Dreise, Stuart & Beverley DeVries and Marcia & David Streefkerk. Proud grandma to Trevor, Olivia, Sophia, Renee (Aaron), Joshua (Kadianne), Heather, Ryan (Gillian), Seth, Luke, Wesley, Annika and Julianna. Proud Great Grandmother to Levi.

Joanne immigrated from Holland in 1951 with late parents Bert and Henny Brouwer and her siblings. She is survived by her brother Henry (Jane) Brouwer, John (Kathy) Brouwer and Rhea (the late Jake) Van Breda and brother-in-law Jim Dieleman and sister-in-law Helen Brouwer. Predeceased by her brothers Harry, Jim and sisters Jannie, Ann and sister-in-law Teny.

She married Harry in 1963 and became a sister-in-law to nine DeVries siblings: the late Wilma and Andrew Veenstra, the late Elsie and Frans Vriesema, Margaret (the late Frank) Vanderheide, the late Arnold (Gertie) Devries, the late Anne and Elco Wiersma, Alice (the late Fred) Postma, Christina (the late Bill) Kloostra, Charlie (the late Jennie) DeVries and Janet (the late John) Fischer.

Joanne will be missed by many extended family members.

Family and friends are welcome to share their condolences in person on Wednesday, July 30 at Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 679 North Street, Dresden. Visitation hours are 1 to 3 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Celebration of Joanne’s life will be held at Dresden Community Church (29043 Community Road) Dresden on Thursday, July 31 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a light luncheon for all guests. Prior to the funeral service, a Private interment ceremony will take place at the Dresden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Wallaceburg Christian School can be made to Wallaceburg Christian School (c/o 693 Albert St, Wallaceburg, ON N8A 1Y8) would be appreciated.
