Life threatening injuries after a head-on crash on Highway 40 in St. Clair Township

Lambton OPP officials allege: Police are investigating a serious two-vehicle collision on Highway 40.

On August 28, 2025, at approximately 1:45 p.m., members from the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Lambton County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Ornge Air Ambulance, and St. Clair Township Fire Department responded to a head-on collision on Highway 40, south of Oil Springs Line. The collision involved a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck.

The driver of the pick-up truck, a 46-year-old of Welland, was airlifted by Ornge Air Ambulance to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

Highway 40 was closed between Courtright Line and Bickford Line for an extended period to allow for the investigation.

The roadway has since reopened.

Lambton County OPP, with the assistance of the West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team continues to investigate the collision.
