Wallaceburg break-in suspect arrested, faces drug charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Chatham-Kent police have arrested a Walpole Island man in connection with a break and enter investigation, and also charged him with drug possession.

On Aug. 28, police said a Wallaceburg home was broken into through a basement window. Surveillance footage showed a 40-year-old Walpole Island man and a 31-year-old Port Lambton woman inside the residence. Several items were reported stolen.

Warrants were issued for both suspects on charges of break and enter, theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property.

On Sept. 7, around 7:15 p.m., police said they responded to a report of a suspicious person and found the 40-year-old man. He was arrested and, during the search, officers found drugs in his possession.

He now faces an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance and remains in custody pending a bail hearing. A warrant for the 31-year-old woman is still outstanding
