Chatham driver charged with impaired after call about erratic vehicle

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 39-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges after Chatham-Kent police received a call about a vehicle swerving and changing speeds on Queen Street Saturday evening.

Police said they stopped the vehicle around 8:21 p.m. and the driver failed a roadside test. He was taken to headquarters, where he provided two breath samples registering over the legal limit.

The accused is charged with operating a vehicle while impaired with blood-alcohol concentration above 80.

Police thanked the community for reporting dangerous driving, noting impaired driving poses serious risks to the public.
