Dispute over hockey cards leads to assault charges in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A disagreement over hockey cards led to assault charges for two people in Chatham on October 6, 2025.

Police responded to Merritt Avenue shortly after 3 p.m. after receiving a report of a disturbance involving a man and a woman. When officers arrived, they separated the pair and learned that the argument had turned physical.

A 20-year-old Chatham woman and a 17-year-old Chatham man were both charged with one count of assault.

The woman was taken to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and released on a Form 10 with conditions and a court date of November 10, 2025. The youth was released to his mother with a future court date.
