The Brigden Fair is marking a major milestone this Thanksgiving weekend as it celebrates 175 years of tradition, community and entertainment.
Organizers have made several enhancements to accommodate larger crowds, including additional shuttles running from the parking lot to the main gate and expanded seating for spectators taking in the many shows and competitions.
Longtime volunteer Dennis Robinson, who has dedicated four decades to the fair, shared his enthusiasm for this year’s lineup.
The midway will feature 16 different rides, and one of the crowd favourites — The Great Canadian Lumberjacks are also back, bringing their high-energy demonstrations to the fairgrounds.
Robinson is particularly looking forward to the heavy horse pull, which will take place just before the tractor pull on Friday night.
New this year, we can watch Aces flying pig races – where pigs run as fast as they can for Oreos at the finish line.
Musical entertainment will be woven throughout the weekend, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Robinson emphasized the importance of the volunteer force behind the event, noting that the number of volunteers is nearly equal to the population of Brigden itself.
