Chatham-Kent begins 2026 budget process with opportunities for public input

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent will launch its 2026 annual budget update on Wednesday, November 5, marking the start of this year’s political review and public consultation process.

The update, part of the approved 2024–2027 multi-year budget under the theme Investing in Today. Empowering Tomorrow., will be presented to council at 6 p.m. in the Civic Centre Council Chambers. The session will be livestreamed on YourTV CK’s YouTube channel, and the full budget will be posted online at www.chatham-kent.ca/ourbudget.

Residents will have two opportunities to share their input during virtual community consultation sessions hosted on the municipality’s Facebook Live feed at facebook.com/MunicCK. The sessions will be held on Wednesday, November 19, from noon to 1 p.m., and Thursday, November 20, from 7 to 8 p.m.

Council deliberations will begin on Tuesday, November 25, from 6 to 10 p.m., with additional sessions scheduled for November 26 and 27 if needed. Extra dates of December 2 and 3 have also been reserved.

Residents wishing to make a deputation can do so at the opening meeting on November 5 or on the first night of deliberations, November 25. Requests and written submissions must be sent to ckfps@chatham-kent.ca by noon on those dates.
