A Chatham man is celebrating a $100,000 win after hitting the top prize on an INSTANT BINGO DOUBLER ticket.
Robert Dubé, 82, said the win marks his first major lottery prize. The longtime OLG player has always enjoyed INSTANT tickets, especially BINGO-themed games.
“It was around 8:30 p.m. when I called my daughter, asking her to come over and check my ticket,” Dubé said while collecting his winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “I wasn’t sure whether I’d gotten all the numbers. When my daughter came over and confirmed my win, she was overwhelmed with happiness and cried tears of joy.”
Dubé said he later shared the news with other family members. “They were all thrilled for me and said I deserve this,” he said with a smile. “This win feels surreal!”
The father of three and grandfather of three plans to share his windfall with family and continue his hobby of building homes out of LEGO bricks.
The winning ticket was purchased at Lucky 7 Variety on McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham.
INSTANT BINGO DOUBLER is available for $5 a play, with top prizes of $100,000 and overall odds of winning any prize at 1 in 3.75, according to OLG.
OLG encourages safe play through its PlaySmart program, which promotes responsible gambling across Ontario.
