The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 18 has launched its annual poppy campaign, a long-standing tradition that supports veterans and their families in the community.
The campaign began October 31 with a flag-raising ceremony outside the Wallaceburg municipal building. The event served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by veterans and the importance of remembrance.
Poppies will be available at various locations across Wallaceburg, Walpole Island and Mitchell’s Bay in the days leading up to Remembrance Day. Volunteers will be stationed at Walmart, the LCBO, The Beer Store, Canadian Tire and No Frills on November 7 and 8.
Branch 18 president Mike Hindmarsh said he appreciates the community’s continued support and stressed the importance of keeping the poppy tradition alive.
Funds raised through the campaign go toward supporting veterans and their loved ones, helping ensure they receive the care and recognition they deserve.
