Chatham man charged in intimate partner violence investigation

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 32-year-old Chatham man has been charged following an intimate partner violence investigation Monday night.

Police responded to a report of an assault at approximately 8:44 p.m. and found a 31-year-old woman with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers determined a verbal argument had escalated into a physical altercation involving choking.

The accused was charged with assault and two counts of assault causing bodily harm (choking). He was taken to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, where he remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police said they remain committed to ensuring community safety and encourage residents to report suspicious activity.
