Chatham man charged with breaching release conditions

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 35-year-old Chatham man has been charged after police say he breached his release conditions Tuesday evening.

Around 6:10 p.m., officers were called to a business on Grand Avenue West after reports that the man, who was under house arrest, had been seen away from his approved residence.

Police say the man had been released on June 11 under conditions requiring him to remain at home at all times, except for medical emergencies or when accompanied by his surety. He was also subject to GPS monitoring.

Officers located the man nearby and arrested him. He has been charged with failing to comply with a release order and was held for bail at Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters.
