Police respond to firearm incident in Raleigh Township

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Chatham-Kent police responded Tuesday evening to reports of a man with a firearm at a trailer on Queens Line.

At about 6:10 p.m., officers were called to the scene where a 78-year-old Chatham man was believed to be in possession of a gun. Police established containment around the area with help from the Emergency Response Team and Drone Unit.

After maintaining communication efforts with the individual, officers entered the trailer a short time later and found the man unresponsive. He was transported to hospital for medical assessment.

No injuries were reported to officers or members of the public.

The man faces two counts of pointing a firearm and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
