RSV vaccine now free for all Chatham-Kent residents aged 75 and older

CK Public Health is reminding residents that the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccine is now available free of charge for everyone aged 75 and older, expanding eligibility beyond previous years.

Those with a family doctor or nurse practitioner can book an appointment directly with their health-care provider to receive the free vaccine. Residents without a primary care provider can schedule an appointment through CK Public Health by calling 519-352-7270 ext. 5902.

Officials note that the RSV vaccine is not available through pharmacies under the publicly funded program and must be administered by an eligible health-care provider or the local public health unit.

In addition to RSV, free flu and COVID-19 vaccines are also available for all residents aged six months and older. Flu shots are offered through health-care providers, participating pharmacies (ages 2+), walk-in clinics, CK Public Health, and the Mobile Care Bus. COVID-19 vaccines are available through participating pharmacies (ages 5+), CK Public Health, and the Mobile Care Bus.

All three vaccines can be safely co-administered to increase protection during respiratory illness season.
