Impaired driving charge laid after two-vehicle crash in Wheatley

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 39-year-old Leamington man is facing impaired driving charges after a two-vehicle collision on Erie Street North Thursday evening.

Chatham-Kent police were called to the scene around 5:52 p.m. on Nov. 13. Officers determined one of the drivers was impaired by alcohol. The second driver, a 57-year-old Wheatley woman, was taken to hospital for additional medical care.

The Leamington man was arrested and taken to the OPP detachment in Leamington for breath testing, where police say he provided two samples over the legal limit. He was charged with impaired operation and with having a blood-alcohol concentration above 80 milligrams.

He was later released from Chatham-Kent police headquarters with a court date set for Dec. 2.
