Walpole Island Fire Department urges vigilance after series of fires

The Walpole Island Fire Department is asking residents to stay alert after crews responded to several fires over a recent 48 hour stretch, including brush fires and blazes believed to have been deliberately set.

Firefighters worked to quickly contain each incident and protect nearby homes and properties. No injuries were reported.

The department is encouraging community members to watch for suspicious activity, including anyone seen attempting to start fires or lingering near recently burned areas. Officials say prompt reporting from residents can help prevent further incidents.

Anyone with concerns is asked to contact Walpole Island First Nation Police, or call 911 in an emergency.
