The world is a little less bright as we announce the passing of Shirley J. Lucier in her 94th year, with her children by her side. Shirley was a spirited and magnetic woman, loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her two devoted children, Lauren and Michael, and her daughter-in-law Carolyn, who all meant the world to her. She was an adoring Grammie to her two beautiful granddaughters, Kayla and Rebecca. She was a dear sister to Carol (Don) Daly and sister-in-law to Kathleen Ewing. She leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Stewart and Keitha Ewing, and her siblings, Geraldine Lewis, Donna (Charles) McCarron, Francis ‘Bud’ (Bonnie) Ewing, Murray Ewing, and Richard Ewing.
Shirley was born on the Ewing Family Farm in Tupperville, Ontario, the third of seven siblings. She attended beauty school at the age of 16 and was a hairdresser for over 70 years. Shirley was a true artist with a creative heart, making beautiful paintings and sewing and knitting clothing. She had a musical soul and loved dancing, singing, and cooking to the radio with her sisters and her granddaughters. Shirley had a green thumb and a knack for flowers, tending to a flourishing backyard garden. She was a sharp card player and enjoyed a good game of Euchre or Pepper. Shirley was an amazing mother, Grammie, sister, aunt and friend in so many ways and will be remembered for her zest for life, her incredibly sharp wit, her unparalleled potato salad, and her unconditional love.
We would like to thank the staff of Windsor Metropolitan Hospital for their grace, kindness, and care.
Visitation will be held at Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 679 North Street, Dresden on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 from 11:00am-12:00pm. Her funeral service will follow at 12:00pm. Interment will be held immediately after at Dresden Cemetery.
