The Wallaceburg Red Devils Jr. B Lacrosse Club drew a strong crowd to the CBD Club on Nov. 29 for a fundraising chilli cookoff that mixed friendly competition with community support.
The event brought together families, friends and residents who spent the afternoon sampling entries, sharing laughs and taking part in draws and prize giveaways. Attendees also cast ballots for the People’s Choice award while a panel of judges selected the top three dishes.
Judges awarded first place to John Leitch, followed by the Lapointe family in second and Ivy and Brendan Johnston in third. The Johnstons also captured the People’s Choice honour, earning them a double win.
Organizers say the biggest success came in the form of community support. The cookoff raised $1,223 to help fund the Red Devils as they prepare for the upcoming season.
