Leadership at the St. Clair Catholic District School Board will remain unchanged for 2026 after trustees acclaimed John Van Heck as chair and David Argenti as vice chair at the board’s initial meeting held Tuesday at the Catholic Education Centre.
Van Heck, first elected as a Catholic trustee in 2006, has served as chair since 2016. Argenti, elected to the board in 2018, begins his fourth term as vice chair. Both expressed gratitude to fellow trustees for their continued support.
“We know this will be a challenging year for our Board and for school boards across the province,” Van Heck said. “But we believe that, as locally elected trustees, we can best represent the interests of our constituents. We will continue to advocate for this important form of governance, through our trustees’ association.”
Argenti said he looks forward to continuing in the role. “I am honoured to serve as your Vice Chair for another term,” he said. “I will work with you and with our Chair as we support Catholic education in the St. Clair district and across Ontario.”
The positions of chair and vice chair are elected annually by trustees. Ontario’s next municipal election is scheduled for Oct. 26, 2026.
