Driver arrested after fleeing traffic stop in Blenheim

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 29-year-old Blenheim man has been arrested after police say he fled from a traffic stop on Talbot Trail on Dec. 8.

According to Chatham-Kent police, an officer on patrol saw a vehicle on Fleming Street with an obstructed licence plate shortly after 1 p.m. The officer identified the driver at the intersection of James and Talbot Street West and learned he was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle.

Police say the driver accelerated and fled westbound. He was located a short time later and arrested.

The man faces charges that include multiple counts of operating while prohibited, flight from police, failing to comply and driving while suspended. He was taken to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and held for bail.
