Environment Canada says up to 10 cm of snow expected, beginning overnight

Environment Canada is advising residents to prepare for potentially difficult travel conditions as a weather system moves into the Chatham-Kent region overnight, bringing significant snowfall and reduced visibility.

The agency issued a special weather statement on Tuesday afternoon, saying that an Alberta clipper is expected to bring periods of heavy snow beginning overnight and continuing into Wednesday morning. Forecasters say snowfall totals near 10 centimetres are possible, with blowing snow contributing to reduced visibility at times.

The snow is expected to taper from southwest to northeast on Wednesday, shifting to rain showers or flurries as the system moves through.

Environment Canada is urging drivers to allow extra time for travel and to monitor updated forecasts and alerts.

Severe weather reports can be submitted by email to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or shared on X using the hashtag #ONStorm.
