Driver charged after impaired driving stop in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 46-year-old man from Chatham is facing impaired driving charges following a traffic stop late Friday night on Webb Street.

On December 12, 2025, at approximately 10:55 p.m., a Chatham-Kent Police Service officer observed a suspicious vehicle that turned northbound and accelerated aggressively.

A traffic stop was initiated and the driver showed signs of impairment.

He was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where breath testing produced readings above the legal limit.

The accused was later released with conditions and a court date of December 30, 2025.

His licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.
