Traffic complaint leads to drug-related arrest on Walpole Island

OPP officials allege: One individual has been arrested following a traffic complaint investigated by police on Walpole Island First Nation.

Shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 15, members of the Lambton County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and the Walpole Island Police Service responded to a traffic complaint that originated with the Chatham-Kent Police Service in the Wallaceburg area.

Police located the involved vehicle on Tecumseh Road on Walpole Island First Nation and also found three individuals walking in the area. Following further investigation, one individual was taken into custody without incident.

A 29-year-old man from Sarnia was charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with possession of a Schedule I substance, methamphetamine. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on Jan. 29, 2026.

Lambton County OPP and Walpole Island Police Service say they continue to focus on community safety through enforcement and education initiatives.
