Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 37-year-old Leamington man has been arrested in Windsor in connection with a theft and mischief investigation involving an oil well property in Wheatley.
Chatham-Kent police said officers responded on Feb. 12, 2025, to reports of theft and mischief at an oil well site on Talbot Trail. During the incident, two male suspects allegedly accessed the property by cutting a padlock on an electrical cabinet, damaging internal wiring and removing items from the site. Investigators later determined the suspects were also connected to damage at a second well location.
Through video evidence, police identified the suspects and warrants were issued for their arrest.
On Dec. 16 at about 3:21 p.m., the Leamington man was located and arrested by the Windsor Police Service on unendorsed Chatham-Kent police warrants. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and lodged in cells pending a bail hearing.
He is facing charges of mischief under $5,000, possession of property under $5,000, and theft under $5,000.
