Marilyn Agnes Comartin (nee Soney), a member of Walpole Island First Nation went peacefully surrounded by her family on December 15, 2025 at the age of 86.
She was predeceased by her husband Richard Comartin and will be missed greatly by her children Fred, Donald (Isabelle), Raymond, Norman and Tina Gordon and John and Paul Soney.
She is a cherished grandmother to 24 grandchildren and all of her great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Marilyn is the daughter of the late Daisy (Nahdee) and Alfred Soney and a dear sister of Ken Soney and the late Albert, Ralph, Delbert, Elwood, Owen, Janis, Deanna and Charles. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. When Marilyn wasn’t with her family she could be found playing bingo, fishing or completing her arts and crafts.
Community visitation will be held at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg (519-627-3231) on Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 6-8pm.
Her funeral services will take place at the Walpole Island United Church on Friday, Dec 19, 2025 at 11am followed by burial at Highbanks Cemetery.
