Here is what they had to say about the photo:
“Morgan Dalgety was born in Sombra Township in 1906. He worked for ferryman Tom Whitely during the summer holidays when he was younger at the Sombra-Marine City crossing. Morgan took a break from boats and worked with his brother, Murray, at the Thistle Rubber Typeworks in Sombra for a short while. He purchased the Walpole Island Ferry business in 1939. The Lowell D. Ferry was named after Mr. Dalgety’s son and was built and installed at the Walpole Island crossing in 1946. Morgan took on George Dean as a partner in 1948 and together, they purchased the Sombra Ferry business. The Daldean was built in 1951 and used by the pair. Lowell came into the business in 1967 and Morgan and Lowell took control of the Sombra Ferry business while the. Dean family took over the operation of the Walpole Island Ferry.”
