Woman charged following retail theft in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Chatham woman is facing theft-related charges following an incident at a retail store in Wallaceburg.

On Dec. 17, 2025, at about 2:31 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a theft at a store on McNaughton Avenue. Police determined a female suspect entered the store, selected several items of merchandise and left the scene in a vehicle. A description of the suspect and the vehicle was obtained.

Officers later located the vehicle on Murray Street in Chatham. A 50-year-old woman from Chatham was identified, arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. She was transported to Chatham-Kent police headquarters and later released with a scheduled court date of Jan. 19, 2026.
