The Chatham-Kent Public Utilities Commission will hold a public meeting in January to consider proposed revisions to water and wastewater system fees.
Under Part XII of the Municipal Act, 2001, the commission is required to pass a bylaw in order to impose fees or charges related to water and wastewater systems. The process also requires public notice and an opportunity for residents to provide input before a bylaw is adopted.
In accordance with the municipality’s Notice Bylaw 137-2020, the commission must hold at least one public meeting at which members of the public may make representations on the proposed changes. Public notice of the meeting must also be posted on the municipal website a minimum of 14 days in advance.
Administration will bring forward revisions to the Water and Wastewater Rates Bylaw at the commission’s next regular public meeting, scheduled for Jan. 15, 2026. The meeting will be held in person in council chambers at the Civic Centre, beginning at 3:45 p.m.
