Yellow freezing rain warning remains in place in Chatham-Kent

Environment Canada has issued a yellow warning for freezing rain, forecasting moderate impacts with high confidence as icy conditions move into parts of Ontario today.

The warning calls for freezing rain this morning in Chatham-Kent continuing into the afternoon.

Ice accretion of two to five millimetres is expected before precipitation changes over to rain later in the day as temperatures rise above the freezing mark.

Environment Canada said icy surfaces could be difficult to detect, increasing the risk for pedestrians and motorists.

Localized utility outages are also possible due to ice buildup.

Members of the public are urged to use caution if walking or driving and to continue monitoring alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.

Severe weather reports can be submitted by email to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or posted on X using the hashtag #ONStorm.
