Francis John Rottier went home to be with the Lord on December 23, 2025, at the age of 74. He passed peacefully at Chatham-Kent Hospice, surrounded by loved ones.
Francis was the beloved son of the late John and Elsie (Van Bastalaar) Rottier, and brother to the late Michael Rottier. He was also a cherished son-in-law to John Murray and the late Jean (Shepley).
He shared 46 wonderful years with his wife, Jodi (Murray), the love of his life. Together, they built a faith-filled life on their Otter Creek farm. Blessed with four children: John (Michelle), Jason (Sarah), Joe (Lisa), and Jana (Brandon L’Ecuyer).
Proud grandfather to ten beautiful grandchildren: Erica, Owen, Kenzie, John, Drew, Morgen, Ryan, Jeremiah, Luc, and Macy.
Known for his quiet strength and gentle nature, Francis was a hardworking man who raised livestock and cash crops while spending years as a skilled farm mechanic. He loved God and his family deeply. He found joy in crop tours with Jodi, a good farm auction, the laughter of his grandchildren filling the house, and the companionship of his four-legged friends.
His legacy will live on in the fields he tilled, the family he nurtured, and the lives he touched with his unwavering faith and humble strength.
The family would like to thank the Windsor Regional Hospital care team and Chatham-Kent Hospice for their exceptional care during Francis’ final weeks. A special thanks to his dialysis nurse, Patty, and the renal program at WRH.
Friends and relatives are invited to share with the family for visitation on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 4-7pm at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral home (639 Elgin St. in Wallaceburg).
Donations in memory of Francis can be made to Chatham-Kent Hospice or the Windsor Regional Hospital Renal Program.
