90 km/h gusts expected in Chatham-Kent as yellow wind warning continues

Environment Canada has issued a yellow wind warning for Chatham-Kent, with strong winds expected throughout the day Monday, December 29, 2025.

The updated warning was issued at 5:32 a.m. and carries a moderate impact level with high forecast confidence. Strong southwesterly wind gusts of 80 to 90 km/h are expected to develop this morning with the passage of a strong cold front. Winds are forecast to shift to the northwest through the afternoon before easing this evening.

Environment Canada says the strong winds could lead to local utility outages, with possible damage to roofs, fences, tree branches and soft shelters. Some property damage is possible.

Residents are advised to secure loose objects and use caution, particularly in exposed areas.

Environment Canada encourages the public to continue monitoring alerts and forecasts as conditions evolve.
