Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Wallaceburg man is facing a charge following a disturbance at a business in Wheatley.
On Jan. 4, 2026, at approximately 3:34 a.m., Chatham-Kent police responded to a report of a disturbance on Talbot Road.
Officers learned a woman had fled into the business and locked herself in a washroom following an altercation.
The investigation determined a verbal argument between a 26-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, both from Wallaceburg, escalated after the man followed the woman into the business and allegedly threw a glass at her.
The woman was not physically injured.
The man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, then released with conditions and a court date of Feb. 11, 2026.
