OPP officials allege: The province’s Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate following an arrest by Ontario Provincial Police in Lambton County.
According to police, officers with the Lambton County OPP responded to an intimate partner violence call in Corunna on May 25, 2025, shortly before 8 p.m. One individual was taken into custody at the scene.
Police say a subsequent medical evaluation determined the individual sustained an injury during the arrest.
The OPP has notified the Special Investigations Unit, which has now invoked its mandate to investigate the circumstances surrounding the injury. As a result, police say they are unable to provide any further information at this time.
The SIU is an independent civilian agency that investigates incidents involving police where there has been serious injury, death or allegations of sexual assault. Any additional inquiries are being directed to the SIU.
