Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Five people were arrested early Wednesday morning after Chatham-Kent police executed a search warrant at a residence on St. Clair Street as part of an ongoing fentanyl trafficking investigation.
On Jan. 28, 2026, at about 5:22 a.m., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Intelligence Unit, assisted by the Emergency Response Team, carried out a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at the Chatham residence. Police say the warrant was related to an investigation into the possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.
Officers entered the residence shortly before 6 a.m. and located five individuals inside. Those taken into custody included two women, aged 29 and 35, and three men aged 35, 40 and 44, all from Chatham.
A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of approximately 86.5 grams of suspected fentanyl, along with measuring cups and a blender containing suspected fentanyl, a rifle-style BB gun, digital scales, packaging materials and several cell phones. Police estimate the street value of the seized drugs at $8,650.
As a result of the investigation, all five individuals were charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking. The 35-year-old woman is also facing two counts of failing to comply with probation, one related to possession of the BB gun and another involving possession of a controlled substance.
All individuals were transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and later released with future court dates.
