Chatham-Kent Health Alliance has announced the addition of two physicians to its General Surgery Department, strengthening surgical services for the community.
CKHA confirmed Jan. 29 that Dr. Samantha (Sam) Albacete and Dr. Eileen Bui have joined the hospital’s surgical team. Hospital officials say both physicians bring extensive training and experience and will provide a full scope of general surgery care in Chatham-Kent.

Dr. Albacete completed her Bachelor of Science at Dalhousie University and earned her Doctor of Medicine at McMaster University’s Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine. She went on to complete a five-year general surgery residency at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, where she received the Canadian Association of General Surgery Excellence in Resident Teaching Award and the R.E. Fraser Award for Excellence in Teaching and Mentorship.
“I am excited to return to my Ontario roots and call Chatham-Kent home,” Albacete said. “I look forward to offering a full range of general surgery services to serve our community.”

Dr. Bui completed her Bachelor of Science at McGill University and her Doctor of Medicine at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. She undertook an internship at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Queens and completed her general surgery residency at the University of Tennessee in Nashville. In 2024, she returned to Canada to complete the Advanced GI Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship program at McMaster University. CKHA noted Bui has already worked at the hospital in a locum role.
“I am excited to open my practice here in Chatham,” Bui said. “It has been an absolute pleasure and privilege to provide care here, and I look forward to continuing to serve and be a part of this wonderful community.”
Dr. Zeke Milkovic, CKHA’s chief of staff, said both surgeons will be valuable additions to the organization. “We are delighted to welcome Dr. Albacete and Dr. Bui to CKHA,” Milkovic said. “Dr. Albacete’s strong academic and surgical training makes her an excellent addition to our surgical team, and Dr. Bui has already made a positive impression at CKHA through her locum work. We are confident that both physicians will have a positive impact on the health and well-being of patients across Chatham-Kent.”
CKHA said the recruitment aligns with its strategic plan to respond to the health-care needs of the community. Both surgeons will provide comprehensive general surgical services and will also support the hospital’s breast cancer program.
