Port Lambton goalkeeper Samantha St. Croix signs with Halifax Tides FC

Halifax Tides FC has signed goalkeeper Samantha St. Croix, adding a third netminder to the club’s roster for the 2026 season.

St. Croix, who is from Port Lambton and a graduate of Wallaceburg District Secondary School, joins the Tides following a standout year in both university and semi-professional soccer.

During the 2025 season, she served as the starting goalkeeper for the Western Mustangs, leading the Ontario University Athletics West Division in goals-against average (0.26), save percentage (.919) and total goals allowed (3). She recorded eight shutouts and was named a First Team OUA All-Star, following a 2024 season in which she earned Second Team honours.

During the summer, St. Croix competed in League1 Ontario’s Women’s Premier Division with FC London, where she was named Goalkeeper of the Year after a season marked by key saves in high-pressure situations, including penalty shootouts. The club noted her consistency, composure and leadership, recognizing her readiness to take the next step to the professional level.

Tides goalkeeper coach Mark Haynes said St. Croix brings a complete skill set to the position.

“Samantha St. Croix brings strong shot-stopping, distribution, and a commanding presence in the air. Her drive to grow and develop makes her a perfect fit for our goalkeeping group. We’re thrilled to welcome her to the Halifax Tides and see her continue her progression at the professional level,” Haynes said.

St. Croix said she is eager for the opportunity ahead.

“I’m really excited to be joining the Tides and to be in an environment that challenges me to keep getting better,” she said. “I’m looking forward to contributing and growing with the group this season.”

Her collegiate and semi-professional success has positioned St. Croix as one of Canada’s emerging young goalkeepers, and she is expected to compete for minutes as Halifax prepares for its inaugural season.

Halifax Tides FC is a professional women’s soccer club based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and will compete in the Northern Super League, the highest level of women’s soccer in Canada. The club is the first and only professional women’s soccer team in Atlantic Canada.
