Chatham-Kent Public Library is bringing the excitement of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 to local communities with a series of viewing parties running from Feb. 6 to March 15. Residents are invited to cheer on Team Canada during live and pre-recorded coverage hosted at select CKPL branches across the municipality.
The library will offer a mix of live broadcasts and recorded Olympic coverage through CBC Gem during regular branch hours. Viewings will be available at the Chatham, Blenheim, Merlin, Tilbury, Wheatley, Ridgetown, Highgate and Bothwell branches, allowing patrons to catch the action close to home.
Festivities kick off at the Chatham branch on Friday, Feb. 6, with CBC/Radio-Canada’s coverage of the opening ceremony shown in the Library Café. The Chatham branch will also host Olympic-themed family activities, book displays and trivia ahead of the Women’s Hockey matchup between Canada and Switzerland on Saturday, Feb. 7, with the game airing at 3:10 p.m.
Library officials say the free, family-friendly events are open to everyone and encourage attendees to wear red and white and bring their cheering voices. More information on viewing parties and related programming is available at www.ckpl.ca/ProgramCalendar or by following CKPL on Facebook and Instagram.
The library says it looks forward to welcoming residents throughout the Games to celebrate Team Canada together.
