Two injured in pickup truck collision near Dresden

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Two people were taken to hospital following a two-vehicle collision on Base Line near Dresden on Friday evening.

Chatham-Kent police say officers responded around 6:56 p.m. on Feb. 6 to a collision on Base Line between Florence Road and Smoke Line in Camden Township.

Police say a pickup truck driven by a 63-year-old man from Thamesville was travelling eastbound when it crossed the centre line and collided with a westbound pickup truck driven by a 65-year-old man from Windsor. Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles.

The Thamesville man was taken to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Public General Campus with minor injuries. The Windsor man was taken to Four Counties Hospital in Newbury and later airlifted to London Health Sciences Centre Victoria Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Due to the severity of the collision, the Chatham-Kent Police Service Traffic Management Unit was called in to assist with the investigation. Police said both individuals were reported to be in stable condition at the time of the release.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the investigating officer, Const. Joel Rehill, at joelr@chatham-kent.ca
