Wallaceburg lacrosse club offers free try-it sessions for youth

Youth in Wallaceburg will have several opportunities to try lacrosse this winter as the local club hosts free introductory sessions aimed at new players.

Wallaceburg Lacrosse is offering “Try Lacrosse” sessions on Jan. 28, Feb. 25 and March 25 at the Kinsmen Gymnasium, located at 1416 Dufferin Ave. The sessions are designed for players who are new to the sport and want to learn the basics in a fun and supportive environment before the 2026 season begins.

Each session will be broken into age groups, with U7 players, born in 2020 and 2021, running from 6:15 to 7 p.m., followed by U9 and U11 players, born between 2016 and 2019, from 7:15 to 8 p.m. The final session from 8:15 to 9 p.m. is for U13 and U15 players, born between 2012 and 2015.

Organizers say the sessions will be led by experienced coaches and will focus on basic skills and introductory drills. No previous lacrosse experience is required. Participants are asked to bring a helmet, gloves – hockey gloves are acceptable – and clean running shoes. Lacrosse sticks will be provided.

The club says the program is intended to give young athletes a chance to experience the sport before committing to the upcoming season.

Registration is required and can be completed online at https://wallaceburglacrosse.com/Pages/1010/Register_Now_(SportzSoft)/.
