Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) has announced that Dr. Chris Anjema has been appointed by its board of directors as Chief of Surgery and Co-Medical Director of the Surgical Program.
A longstanding resident of Chatham-Kent and member of the local medical community, Dr. Anjema has provided ophthalmological services in the area since 2004. He completed his Doctor of Medicine and residency training in ophthalmology through the Schulich School of Medicine and the Ivey Eye Institute of Ophthalmology at the University of Western Ontario. He later completed fellowship training in oculoplastic and facial reconstructive surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
“CKHA is home to a strong surgical program that offers a wide range of services. We have a collaborative team of supportive staff who are dedicated to excellence in delivering the highest standard of care and outstanding patient outcomes,” said Dr. Anjema. “I look forward to providing leadership that is caring, kind, responsible and accountable to patients, as well as the organization we serve, and the community that depends on CKHA’s surgical services.”
In addition to numerous community and volunteer activities, Dr. Anjema has served as CKHA’s head of ophthalmology since 2024. Through his work at CKHA and the Anjema Eye Institute, he has focused on fostering safety and quality in surgical care.
“Dr. Anjema brings a deep commitment to the Chatham-Kent community into this role,” said Dr. Zeke Milkovic, Chief of Staff. “His desire for excellence in patient care, and his commitment to continuous improvement, will drive us forward as a surgical program and as a hospital.”
CKHA offers surgical subspecialties in urology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology and orthopedics.
