Man charged with public intoxication, mischief after disturbance at Chatham restaurant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 30-year-old Chatham man is facing charges following a disturbance at a restaurant on King Street West.

Police said officers were called to the location at about 4:34 p.m. on Feb. 19, 2026, after reports of an intoxicated individual causing a disturbance while in possession of an open container of alcohol.

Officers located the man and arrested him for public intoxication. While in custody at Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, police say the individual damaged property, resulting in an additional charge of mischief.

He was later released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on April 4, 2026.
