Woman charged after impaired driving investigation in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 35-year-old woman is facing charges after an impaired driving investigation in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officers responded at approximately 5:22 p.m. on February 23, 2026, to a report of a suspected impaired driver on McNaughton Avenue.

Police said the vehicle was observed driving on the wrong side of the roadway in an unsafe manner before entering a parking lot.

Officers located the vehicle and identified the driver as a Walpole Island resident. An Approved Screening Device demand was made, resulting in a fail. During an inventory search, officers located unsealed bottles of liquor inside the vehicle.

The accused was transported to police headquarters for further testing and provided two samples above the legal limit.

She was charged with operation while impaired — blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor.

The accused was later released with a court date scheduled for March 26, 2026.
