Hungry to meet your goal

From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin

Back in early February of this year my wife and I enjoyed a lovely vacation time in Florida with friends from our church.

The warm temperatures and relaxing schedule were a welcome break from the cold winter conditions at home and the hectic pace we keep.

Of course, there was a LOT to do in order to have things in place for us to get away.

As a pastor, I cannot just “drop everything” and leave a mess behind.

Going away requires careful preparation beforehand to make sure things are on an even keel in my absence.

But guess what?

That frenzy of preparation was well worth it for the enjoyment that Ruth I shared together down in the Sunshine State.

I like what it says in Proverbs 16:26: “A worker’s appetite works for him because his hunger urges him on.”

The thought of sitting poolside and soaking up those warm rays of the sun spurred me on to get things in place here at home prior to our departure.

When I was a kid growing up, I shared a newspaper route with my two brothers.

It was rarely enjoyable getting up at the crack of dawn to deliver papers, but there was one exception on the calendar: the morning we would leave for our family’s summer vacation to the Muskoka region.

We never worked so hard and so fast as that morning, let me tell you! Motivation is HUGE when it comes to completing what’s required for getting a job done.

What’s spurring you on these days, my friend?

Set your sights on that goal and then get to work to find your way there!
